Prepare GSTR-3B from your books

Go to Reports → GSTR-3B and pick the GSTIN and period. EaseDesk fills the tables from your sales, purchases and expenses, sets your tax off against input tax credit and shows the cash to pay. Download the JSON for the portal, file, then mark it filed.

In EaseDesk: Reports → GSTR-3B. Log in or start a free trial.

Steps

  1. 1 Open Reports and click GSTR-3B.
  2. 2 Choose the GSTIN and the Period (a month, or a quarter under QRMP).
  3. 3 Read the notes at the top, for example bills unpaid for 180 days whose credit is reversed.
  4. 4 Under From the portal, enter your credit ledger balance, and any interest and late fee, then click Work out again.
  5. 5 Check 6.1 Payment of tax and the Cash to pay figure.
  6. 6 Click JSON for the portal to download the file for filing, and pay the cash part on the GST portal.
  7. 7 After filing, click Mark filed and note the ARN.

What is in each table

  • 3.1 Outward supplies, and inward supplies on which you pay tax under reverse charge.
  • 3.2 Inter-state supplies to unregistered persons, composition dealers and UIN holders, by state.
  • 4 Eligible ITC, with reversals and ineligible credit shown separately.
  • 5 Exempt, nil-rated and non-GST inward supplies.
  • 6.1 Payment of tax: what you owe under each head, how much is paid from IGST, CGST, SGST and cess credit, and what is left to pay in cash, including reverse-charge tax, which is always paid in cash.

The set-off follows the order the law lays down for using credit, so you see exactly how much cash to deposit and how much credit is left for next month.

What you enter from the portal

EaseDesk works from your books. Three figures come from the GST portal: the balance already in your electronic credit ledger, interest and late fee. Enter them and click Work out again to redo the set-off.

Before you file

File GSTR-1 for the period first; EaseDesk notes when it is not yet marked filed. The portal also fills parts of GSTR-3B from your GSTR-1 and GSTR-2B, so compare its figures with EaseDesk’s and look into any difference before you submit.

Who can do it

The Owner, Admins, Accountants and an invited Chartered Accountant can see GSTR-3B. Entering portal figures and marking it filed needs the GST returns permission. See the GST compliance page and the GSTR-3B glossary entry for more.

Questions

When is GSTR-3B due?

As of September 2026, by the 20th of the following month for monthly filers. Quarterly filers under the QRMP scheme file by the 22nd or the 24th of the month after the quarter, depending on their state.

Where does the input tax credit figure come from?

From the purchase and expense bills and vouchers with GST in your books, less credit that must be reversed or is blocked. Reconcile it with your GSTR-2B first, so you claim only credit your suppliers have reported.

What does Mark filed do?

It locks the month's invoices and bills for that GSTIN. Any change after that goes through a credit note or debit note. Click Mark not filed if you marked it by mistake.
