Material Requirements Planning

MRP

Calculation that determines what raw materials and components are needed, in what quantity and when, based on production schedules and inventory.

What it means

MRP takes inputs — demand forecasts/sales orders, current inventory, BOMs, lead times — and outputs procurement plans (POs to vendors) and production schedules. The classic MRP-I focuses on materials; MRP-II extends to capacity, scheduling and shop floor.

How Easedesk handles Material Requirements Planning

Easedesk MRP runs on a configurable cadence (nightly, on-demand) and outputs suggested POs grouped by vendor, with negotiation history and last purchase prices. Production scheduling against work centres uses finite capacity planning.
