Services Accounting Code — 6-digit code identifying a service category for GST classification (the services equivalent of HSN).
What it means
SAC codes classify services under GST. The structure is a 6-digit code where the first two digits (99) indicate services, the middle two indicate the major service category, and the last two indicate the specific service.
Examples: 998314 = IT consulting services, 996712 = port operations, 998211 = legal documentation. Like HSN, correct SAC ensures correct GST rate application and GSTR-1 reporting.
