Shifts — common issues and fixes

Common problems and fixes for the Easedesk Shifts module — missing data, permission errors, blank lists, and broken automations.

Quick answer

Most Shifts issues fall into four buckets: missing permissions, stale browser cache after a deploy, department-scope filtering hiding records, or a downstream automation that hasn't yet run. Each has a quick fix below.

I can't see the Shifts menu item

Two possible causes. First, your role may not have the shifts.view permission — your Owner can grant it under Settings → Users & Roles. Second, the module may be disabled at the tenant level — Owners can re-enable it under Settings → Modules.

My list is empty even though I just created records

Most likely the Department Switcher at the top of the navbar is set to a specific department, and the records you created are scoped to a different one. Switch the selector to "All departments" (if your role allows) to see everything.

"You don't have permission" error

Each action in Shifts (view/create/edit/delete/approve/export) is checked separately. The error message tells you which permission is missing. Your Owner can grant it in Settings → Users & Roles → select your role → Permissions tab.

After a deploy, the page is blank

Hard-refresh your browser (Ctrl + Shift + R on Windows/Linux, Cmd + Shift + R on Mac). This clears the stale client-side bundle from before the deploy. If it still doesn't work, log out and back in.

Linked automations aren't firing

Easedesk runs some automations on a cron schedule (every few minutes). If you've just created a record, wait 1-2 minutes and check the Audit Log. If still nothing, the source record may be missing a required field — re-open it to confirm.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the Shifts list empty?
Check the Department Switcher at the top of the navbar. If it's set to a specific department, records created under other departments won't show. Switch to "All departments" if your role allows.
Why can't I see the Shifts menu?
Your role may not have the shifts.view permission, or the module may be disabled at the tenant level. Owners can fix both in Settings.
Why am I getting "permission denied" on shift actions?
Each action (view/create/edit/delete) has a separate permission. The error names the specific one missing. Your Owner can grant it under Settings → Users & Roles.
The page is blank after a deploy — what do I do?
Hard-refresh: Ctrl + Shift + R (Cmd + Shift + R on Mac). This clears the cached old bundle.
My data looks wrong — who do I talk to?
Use the in-app AI Assistant (violet icon in the navbar) — it knows your tenant data and can investigate. For complex issues, raise a support request via the help icon.
