Is ClearTax an ERP?
No. ClearTax is a tax-and-compliance software suite — GST filing, e-invoicing, TDS, ITR. It doesn't include general accounting, inventory, HR, CRM, manufacturing or other ERP modules. Most ClearTax customers use it alongside Tally or another accounting tool. Easedesk replaces both — ClearTax-style GST plus the underlying ERP.
Is ClearTax better at GST than Easedesk?
ClearTax is the deepest GST-specialist tool in India and is genuinely excellent at high-volume filing across many GSTINs. Easedesk's GST module handles 99% of what Indian SMBs and mid-market companies need: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2A/2B reconciliation, e-invoicing, e-way bills. If you're a CA firm filing for 200+ clients, ClearTax has scale features Easedesk doesn't aim to compete with. If you're a business filing for your own group of entities, Easedesk's integrated GST is usually all you need.
Can I keep ClearTax for GST and use Easedesk for accounting?
Yes, but most customers find this isn't worth it. ClearTax + Tally is a common stack precisely because Tally's native GST isn't great. Easedesk's native GST removes the second tool — and the reconciliation work between the two. You can keep ClearTax for an interim period during migration; over time most customers drop it.
What about TDS, ITR and other ClearTax products?
Easedesk handles TDS deduction and payment workflows natively within payroll and vendor payments. For corporate ITR filing, most businesses still use a CA or ClearTax/Quicko at the end of the year — that's a once-a-year filing where a specialist tool is reasonable. For everything else month-to-month (GST, e-invoicing, e-way, TDS), Easedesk does it inline.
Which is cheaper for a 10-person Indian SMB?
If you only need GST filing and have separate accounting, ClearTax can be cheaper. If you currently pay for Tally + ClearTax + HR software + CRM separately (a common Indian SMB stack), the total annual cost typically exceeds ₹60,000 — Easedesk Standard at ₹2,500/month (₹30,000/year) is usually less and replaces all four.
